Sophie and David - this is a wedding that is a testament to not fearing the heavens opening all (yes ALL) day on your wedding day. It’s also a testament to the fun that comes from marrying your best friend. Where two of the most chilled out and down-to-earth humans tie the knot, nothing breaks their stride. Sophie and David gathered their closest friends and family for their ceremony at Hillersdon House and then threw a big evening reception back at their farm. They did their day, their way. That included home-made deserts (major yum!), a relaxed thank-you speech in the evening and even customising their hours with me to include what mattered most to them, in this case, ceremony to sparklers!! Talk about end-to-end romance!! Here are a few of my faves x
Stacie and Alan. I’m a bit in love with you guys. And, love being love, it is ephemeral and hard to put into words - but I’m going to try. Its the way you both had a really strong sense of style, yet were two of the wholehearted and least self-aware humans on earth. It’s the way you both made time for your grandparents in the whirlwind of a wedding day, it’s the bonds you both have with your families, your friends and most of all, each other. When you two locked eyes, the world spun around your calm, assured and joyful love. I think even the vicar knew this was something special, because despite all photos being banned inside the church, he graciously allowed me to shoot Stacie coming down the aisle to marry Alan, for which I am very grateful.
Guys, just keep doing what you’re doing. Forever.
Abi and Ben met at bonfire night - so it is only fitting that their day was bright, beautiful and bursting with happiness and warmth. What took this day to the next level of special was that these two human gems were all about giving back, Abi’s gorgeous gown was from the wonderful charity-funding La Boutique and the bar was set up to support a local charity. Their inclusive and warm approach extend to the ceremony where the rings were passed around ‘warmed’ by everyone present, and key figures in their life came forward and bound their hands together using multi-coloured ribbon. I felt very privileged to be a part of it all, you were all wonderful! x
Shoreditch style meets Devon’s raw beauty. What a combination. Kate and Jay had one word at the centre of their day. Fun. How did they achieve it? 1. By inviting all the best people they knew (they were pretty darn rad) 2. Choosing one of my favourite venues The Old Barn (where else can you get Pinterest worthy tablescaping AND dodgems), 3. Keeping the Prosecco flowing and the playlist pumping 4. Throw in (THE BEST) candyfloss I have ever tasted and 5. Squeezing in a quick trip to nearby Clovelly. Heavens alive, marriage looks GOOD on you!!
When you have indoor falconry, a string quartet that learns your favourite dance track, and Ed Sheeran sends you a personal video message before the dance floor heats up - you know you’re doing your wedding in serious style! Sam and Chris are best friends, dance floor partners, adventurers, and now husband and wife. They’re also King and Queen of going with the flow, and they took the temperamental sky their day served up in their stride. Perfect proof of what Chris said in his speech - they have no idea what the future holds for them - but as long as they are doing it together, he knows they have everything they need.
Kilts, the sexiest sports car I’ve seen, and THE dress from Atonement - Tegan and Ed’s wedding was one-of-a-kind Devonian Highland fling with a sprinkle of Gray’s Anatomy, a serious dose of sisterhood (loved ya Eve and Nieve….and Mirren ….. THAT SPEECH) and sunshine on full beam (love me a pair of Ray Bans with a wedding dress) Tegan and Ed chose to do the official section of the day at the gorgeous Dillington House, and then headed back to Tegan’s family home for an otherworldly tipi-style garden party and Ceilidh dancing. Non-stop, wall to wall, fun! Thanks for having me along for the ride xx
I first met Laura and James during a dreamy Exmouth sunset towards the end of last year, and immediately sulked that I would have to wait so long to shoot their big day. What incredible human beings. Laura is the epitome of poise, and I’m sure her gentle nature and soft smile are just one of the million reasons James fell in love with her. James is quietly hilarious and the two of them giggled their way through their big day like they were the only two in the world. Thank you for having me. PS: That bouquet!!
